ABOUT US

Meet Mary
Mary Burch is the founder and maker behind Red House Salsa, a locally made artisan salsa brand based in St. Albert, Alberta.
My journey with Red House Salsa started with a gift...

As a family, we made salsa together: chopping garlic and peppers, stirring the pots, and finally, packaging it up as a special homemade gift for family and friends.

My kids loved taking salsa as gifts for their teachers, and when my youngest kiddo passed grade 1, that teacher encouraged me to venture out to local markets and sell our salsa.

"You never grow inside your comfort zone."

What started as hobby, has turned into a business that allows me to go on field trips with my kids, balance the demands of a busy family, and pursue the passion of being an entrepreneur.

I officially started Red House Salsa in 2016 and can say that the last 10 years have been an incredible adventure. This experience has given me a deeper appreciation for the food we eat, the time I spend with those who matter most, and the things we’re capable of when we push ourselves to try something new.
"Local food is about getting the freshest and best tasting food. It's also about connecting to and strengthening your community."

There are so many talented people making fabulous products in Alberta, and we’re slowly but surely discovering them all. Mary Bush is definitely on this list; her simple but special salsa-making hobby has become a business — and rightly so! Made in small batches in St. Albert, Birch uses local ingredients for CF and vegan, fresh Mild, Medium, Hot, and Garlic salsas, and we love that she says, “We quality check our butts off.” Enjoy, they’re a no brainer: spoonful. $9
